DIRECTIONS:
The following are AVERAGE directions.
Different stones may require different techniques. In doubt, don't hesitate to contact us.
-
Hone the granite to the desired grit size. We recommend at least 400.
-
Protect surrounding surfaces with plastic or wax paper.
FLOORS: Place approximately one tablespoon of granite polishing powder on floor. Place a hogs hair pad on your floor machine (300 RPM). Place machine and pad on top of powder. Add enough water to mix into a slurry while moving the machine back and forth. Work in small areas, approx. 4 feet x 4 feet. Continue to work the slurry until it is dry. Repeat the process as necessary until you achieve the desired shine.
If you are having difficulty acheiving a shine, try the following option. Add one tablespoon of granite polishing powder to the floor. Place a #1 grade steel wool pad on your floor machine. Add several squirts of Stonecare PRO Signature Granite Polishing Fluid and work powder and fluid into a slurry. DO NOT USE WATER, only use the Granite Polishing fluid. Work slurry until dry. Repeat as necessary. If there is a dull haze, then repeat polishing with a #0 steel wool pad and Granite Polishing Fluid only ( no powder). Any remaining residue and haze can be removed with a dry #0 steel wool pad.
TOPS: Countertops and other horizontal surfaces can be polished the same way as floors expect you will use a small hand held buffer. The buffer should not exceed 500 RPM.
COVERAGE: Depending on the type of stone, expect coverage of approximately 300 to 600 sq. ft. per pound.
